SKILLED NURSING

Single-occupancy room initiatives pushing SNFs to brink

High renovation costs associated with adopting new rules for room occupancy limits are forcing some operators to close their doors. Vulnerable facilities, built in the 1960s and 1970s and designed for three to four residents per room, simply cannot afford the upgrades to house fewer than two residents per room.

Matt Salmon, CEO of Massachusetts-based SALMON Health and Retirement, said dedensification initiatives unfairly burden older buildings. In some cases, operators are faced with taking away public space and functional space to meet state occupancy requirements.

In other words, it’s not just a financial impact. There’s a change in how residents experience life in a nursing home with less public space.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

Passion for a greater purpose

While business leaders prioritize the commercial value of purpose, employees see purpose as a way to bring meaning to their work and understand the contributions they are making to the company, as well as society. And, employees need to find this meaning in their daily work in order to be fully engaged.

The Excelas team is inspired by the broader reach of our work—to positively impact how healthcare is delivered. Click the video to learn more.

RECORD RETRIEVAL

How to respond to audits and record requests: with complete, accurate and organized records

When responding to audits and record requests, your first instinct may be to gather and send the information as quickly as possible. However, releasing disorganized, incomplete, or inaccurate medical records can shed a negative light on your facility and disrupt the efficient evaluation of records by auditors. We can save your team the stress of gathering and organizing records as well as lost hours of productivity.
