News | December 08, 2016 Excelas Receives Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service CLEVELAND, OH (December 8, 2016) – Excelas is honored to be a recipient of the 2016 Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service. The program, presented by Smart Business, honors businesses of all types and sizes that make outstanding contributions to their community. Its purpose is to encourage a charitable environment, recognize creative efforts that make a difference and demonstrate the ties between the for-profit and nonprofit worlds. Excelas was selected to receive the Medical Mutual SHARE Award, a special honor given to a company whose employees best exemplify the values of Medical Mutual’s own employee SHARE Committee. SHARE, which stands for serve, help, aid, reach and educate, describes the values that lay at the foundation of Medical Mutual’s own charitable efforts. These same values are at the core of Excelas’ outreach efforts, organized and driven by a dedicated employee-led outreach team. “We are so pleased to have been selected for this award because it is evidence of the impact that a small business can have on the larger community,” explained Jean Bourgeois, President of Excelas. “We are a team of 30, but we are humbled to be able to give back to others in the many ways that we do.” Community Outreach has been an important initiative for Excelas since the company was founded in 2005. Over the years, the staff has given generously to dozens of non-profit organizations. Most recently, outreach initiatives have supported Saint Paschal Baylon Helping Hands Ministry, Project Night Night, The Gathering Place, WomenSafe, and Beech Brook, among others.
